Officers of the University and Named Office Holders play a significant role in the leadership of a school, faculty or wider University. They're responsible for the development and implementation of activities which support the University's strategy and mission, along with the underpinning strategic plans. They are likely to be a member of at least one of the University committees (Council, Senate, University Executive Board) and/or be a member of the Faculty Senior Leadership Team (Faculty Executive Group).
These roles are outlined in the University Ordinances Part 1 include the President and Vice-Chancellor, Vice-Presidents, Deans of the Faculties. The Council may from time to time appoint such other Officers of the University as may be required. The duties and terms of these appointments shall be determined by the Council.
Although not included in the Ordinances, this guidance can also be applied to other Named Office Holders, for example when considering the appointment or extension of Associate Deans, Heads of School, Heads of Department, Director of Doctoral College, Directors of Institutes.
