Before joining the University of Southampton as a postgraduate researcher, Francisco obtained his LLB and MA from the University of Pavia, followed by an LLM with Distinction in Commercial and Corporate Law from the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary University of London.

Francisco has held a number of teaching positions in the UK. He worked as a Teaching Associate responsible for the Mixed Mode of Education at Queen Mary University of London School of Law, as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Business Law module at Bayes Business School, City, University of London, and as a Teacher in Law at International Foundation Group. He is also regularly involved in projects with the European Banking Institute (EBI) (Frankfurt, Germany).

Francisco has held several editorial positions at the Banking and Finance Law Review (Toronto, Canada), where he served as Editorial Fellow in 2025, Book Review Editor Assistant, and Newsletter Editor, before becoming Book Review Editor and Communications Editor.

Prior to pursuing an academic career, Francisco worked as a consultant for technology companies in the City of London and practised law at leading international law firms in Italy.
