Benjamin’s research focuses on modelling gravitational waves from systems such as compact objects spiralling into supermassive black holes. He develops advanced computational and theoretical techniques in black hole perturbation theory and gravitational self force theory, with the goal of producing highly accurate waveform models for next generation observatories. His work aims to capture the detailed physics that governs how these binaries evolve, enabling precise interpretation of the long, complex signals expected in future gravitational wave observatories such as the space-based LISA detector. By improving our ability to model these systems, Benjamin’s research helps deepens our understanding of gravity in its strongest regimes.
