Jack D.A. Sharpen is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Proteomic Research at the University of Southampton. He received his PhD in Molecular Biology from The University of Manchester exploring multi-omics analyses and technologies for novel applications in forensic post-mortem modelling and biomolecular archaeology. Having also earned an First Class degree at Manchester in Biochemistry with Industrial/Professional Experience, he worked within structural proteomics on intestinal mucus stability as an undergraduate placement and on a stipend as a research scientist at the Mucin Biology Group in The University of Gothenburg. This multidisciplinary experience developed across both experimental and computational multi-omics is currently focused on elucidating deep molecular phenotyping of metastatic breast cancer. Funded by Against Breast Cancer for their ABC Discover 2 and using the DietCompLyf Biobank, Doctor Sharpen is utilising integrated methods combining multi-omics, clinical, dietary and lifestyle information to derive target biomarkers for metastatic progression and recurrence in order to deliver novel precision treatments for breast cancer.
