About
We aim to build research capacity and produce robust evidence to enhance wellbeing and experiences of care amongst older people with dementia and other complex health conditions. Our research foregrounds the perspective of individuals and families living with older age, dementia and other complex health conditions.
We seek to improve care systems, advance inclusive research practices, and inform evidence-based policy making, related to ageing and/or dementia. Our goal is to help reduce health and care inequalities and ensure that this population can live well in their preferred environment.
To achieve this, we strive to:
- Explore different models of care and training related to ageing and/or dementia, including lived experience of care, and seek to improve access for underserved populations and outcomes that are important to people.
- Use large health and care datasets to investigate care pathways, complex care and workforce needs related to older age, frailty and/or dementia at regional and population levels.
- Develop and champion research methods and practices that enable underserved older communities, including family carers, people living with frailty, and/or dementia, to get involved in research, and the evaluation and improvement of care systems.
- Work collaboratively with relevant partners including people living with the conditions, care providers, clinicians, and the voluntary and community sector to mobilise research-based knowledge that will address individual, system, and population needs related to older age and/or dementia.
- Nurture networks with international researchers working on older age and/or dementia related care projects in countries of strategic priority.
- Mentor and support individuals to develop and lead care related research in the ageing and/or dementia related field.
