Project overview

Although research on sexuality and migration has grown significantly, most studies focus on the experiences of
young adults, often leaving the knowledge and experience of ageing people untapped. Employing innovative
methods, the project will examine the perspectives of 60 LGBTQ migrants aged 60 and above in the UK and Italy.
It will generate insights into how various forms of criminalisation continue to affect the lives of LGBTQ people. This
will mark the first international study to analyse the migration experiences of ageing LGBTQ individuals who have
been subject to both direct and indirect criminalisation throughout their lifetimes.
