Project overview

While coastal green-blue spaces offer mental health benefits, critical gaps exist in understanding their real-world impact. Specifically, how coastal populations access and benefit from these environments remains unclear. This project validates a novel Green-Blue Space Index in real-world settings through community-based coastal fieldwork with objective quality measurements. It will develop evidence-based awareness interventions to harness these natural resources for mental wellbeing. Bridging quantitative spatial analysis with community-centred design, this work addresses whether coastal communities facing disproportionate challenges can access and benefit from their therapeutic environments. Findings will generate pilot data for funding applications, addressing environmental justice and public health priorities.
