Project overview
We aim to undertake further studies of functioning as a predictor of health service use, extending previous work by incorporating an assessment of self-reported hearing difficulties. We would again use the PARADISE-24 to measure functioning, but would also screen for potential hearing difficulties using recommended questions (see below) with subsequent completion of the Hearing Self-Assessment Questionnaire, HSAQ, to establish whether self-reports of functioning and hearing difficulties can predict HSU in patients with long-term and frequently comorbid mental health conditions, including patients with gambling disorders, older patients with alcohol use disorders, and patients experiencing prolonged difficulties following Covid-19 infection (and possibly other patient groups, depending on ARC activities).
