Biodiversity and impact investments

Project overview

SRI (Sustainability & Resilience Institute) funding award – Understanding the role of blended finance in re-risking biodiversity impact investments (6th October 2026)

In recognising the significance of nature as a fundamental condition for socioeconomic activity, our project explores how finance and the natural environment are more closely connected than they might first appear, specifically in how the value of biodiversity, the variety of life on Earth, is reflected in impact investment practices.

Working with our industry partner MYSC, we examine how the financial returns of its investment portfolio relate to social and environmental impacts. We also engage with MYSC’s activities related to accelerating social ventures to inform practical guidance on scaling nature-based investments that could support the social venture ecosystem.

Our broader aim is to share with a wider audience the potential for impact investment to generate long-term financial value, while highlighting our shared responsibility to recognise biodiversity’s importance in sustaining socioeconomic resilience.
