Overview
300 new 75th Anniversary Scholarships are available to students domiciled in mainland China, Hong Kong SAR or Taiwan starting an eligible full-time, on-campus 1-year postgraduate taught programme.
Southampton Business School programmes are excluded, as the Business School offers its own scholarships.
These scholarships mark 75 years since the University of Southampton was granted its Royal Charter. They celebrate our history and offer a warm welcome to students from China, Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan.

Eligibility
To get this scholarship you must:
- be a permanent resident of China, Hong Kong SAR or Taiwan
- be a self-funded student paying the oversees tuition fees
- have a conditional or unconditional offer to study any full-time, on-campus 1-year postgraduate taught programme (except Business School programmes)
- pay your tuition fee deposit by Friday 15 January 2027
Scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis, based on the date you submit your programme application to the University of Southampton.
Permanent residency
Permanent residency
We consider your permanent residency to be where you have lived for 3 or more years before the start of the course.
This does not include where you have been living solely for study purposes if it is different from your permanent place of residency.

We will automatically award this scholarship if you are eligible and let you know by email.

How we award
Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis, based on the date you submit your programme application to the University of Southampton.
The first 300 postgraduate applicants who meet the eligibility criteria, including payment of their tuition fee deposit by 15 January 2027, will receive the scholarship.
If you're awarded more than one University of Southampton scholarship, you'll automatically receive the highest-value award.
