About

As a Laboratory Technician, Kamil contributes to:

  • Day to day running of laboratories
  • Undergraduate teaching (Lab and field based)
  • Research laboratory work and assistance (Lab and field based)
  • Equipment management and maintenance
  • Deployment of field equipment. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Everyday support of the laboratories across education, research and enterprise.
  • Liaising with both staff and students to help fulfil their needs
  • Induction of students to the laboratories and introducing them to both equipment and methods
  • Supporting ongoing research projects
  • Conducting laboratory procedures
  • Participating in fieldwork operations
  • Laboratory and building Health and Safety

Kamil provides assistance for Environmental Sensing at Southampton (ES@S) enterprise deployments, having completed GVC training for the deployment and operation of uncrewed aircraft systems (Drones).

He has also provided assistance to fieldwork undertaken for PhD research, which includes a wide variety of necessary activities and equipment.

Kamil leads and assists in the running of undergraduate practical classes, specialising in laboratory practicals and field classes.
For instance, the teaching of the first-year module The Earth System, and the equipment instructions of the second-year field course to Tenerife.

He also inducts and instructs new laboratory users in laboratory procedures and equipment, for both dissertation and research work.
