Asyl began working at the University of Southampton in 2020 as a postdoctoral fellow in Southampton Business School, developing routing and scheduling algorithms for healthcare professionals, before joining SHTAC as a health economist in May 2022. She graduated from Cardiff University with a degree in Mathematics, Operational Research and Statistics, and carried out her PhD in combinatorial optimisation at Cardiff University, specialising in exact and evolutionary algorithms. Asyl contributes to the production of Technology Assessment Reports (TARs) for NICE, including single technology appraisals (STAs) and highly specialised technologies (HSTs), and also conducts health economist evaluations alongside clinical trials. She is a regular contributor to SHTAC's external training programme in health economics.
