William Allen is a Lecturer in Political Science. His research examines how and why people engage with information about political issues, particularly on migration and gained through media, and what this means for politics and policymaking around the world. He has supported this agenda with grants as Principal (PI) and Co-Investigator (Co-I) from the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), the British Academy (including a Postdoctoral Fellowship), the World Bank, and the Toyota Foundation-Japan. In 2024, he was selected as a member of the UK Young Academy, the national body for early-career leaders across research and industry.
He has served on the editorial boards of Migration Studies (Deputy Editor, 2024-28), Journal of Refugee Studies (Associate Editor, 2021-24), and Evidence & Policy (Associate Editor, 2019-24).
He holds a DPhil in Politics (Oxford), an MPhil in Development Studies (Oxford), and a BA in Social Policy & Economics (Alma College, USA).
