Virtual Seminars in Economic Theory (VSET)
Launched in 2020, VSET is a weekly online seminar series that provides economic theorists with a platform to present and discuss their ongoing work. Hosting more than 20 seminars each year, it has become one of the leading seminar series in economic theory worldwide, with a global audience and an archive of recorded talks. VSET is jointly organised by economics departments at several universities, including Southampton. More info
POLECONUK Webinar
The POLECONUK Webinar was launched in 2020 to provide a forum for presenting theoretical and applied research in political economy. The series attracts a broad academic audience, with most talks recorded and archived. It is jointly organised by economics departments at several universities, including Southampton, and is loosely affiliated with the POLECONUK Group. More info
The Makris Symposium in Economic Theory (MSET)
Founded in 2013 at the University of Southampton, MSET is a two-day annual symposium co-organised by economics departments at several universities. It brings together established researchers and early-career scholars for invited talks and lively discussions, with many opportunities for interaction beyond the seminar room. In 2023, the symposium was named in memory of Miltos Makris, a founding member of the organising committee who played a central role in establishing the event at Southampton. MSET will return to Southampton in 2026. More info
