Climate change resilience for multiple long-term health conditions

Project overview

While climate change is driving weather extremes, the number of people with two or more (multiple) long-term health conditions, those most at risk, is rising. Adaptation requires human resilience. Therefore, understanding their experiences is essential to define and promote resilience.

Policy decisions must be evidence-based, and for the impact of climate change on these communities, begin with the direct experiences of individuals and environmental data. We aim to understand how people with multiple health conditions experience and adapt to extreme weather, and create evidence for more resilient, fair and sustainable health and social care.

We bring together academics, community professionals and local authority to capture knowledge scientifically and creatively. It will allow us to work in partnership with local communities and co-produce evidence to support future research, using people’s narratives and body measures to capture seasonal climate impacts to inform policy.
