This in person 5-day course is aimed at those looking to skipper yachts by day, or anyone with an interest in the theory behind planning a safe passage.
About the course
This course is an excellent step toward gaining your RYA Day Skipper practical qualification and is a requirement of commercially endorsing a day skipper qualification.
The course covers:
seamanship
coastal navigation and pilotage
chartwork, including electronic charts
position fixing
plotting a course to steer
weather forecasting and meteorology
tides
collision regulations
Required experience
Some practical experience is desirable but not required.

When we might cancel your booking
We might need to cancel a booking if:
the weather means we cannot safely run a course
staff members are sick and their absence cannot be covered
we cannot meet our minimum student-instructor ratio
If we need to cancel your booking, we’ll always try to give you at least 24 hours' notice. We’ll also offer to reschedule your booking.
