Clearing 2026 is now open
You can now check our course vacancies list to see what's available, check the entry requirements and, if you have your results, make an application.
How to apply through Clearing
If you have your results
To apply for a course through Clearing you'll need to first find an available course on our vacancies page. This page will be updated with the latest vacancies and their entry requirements throughout the Clearing cycle.
If your grades are slightly below the requirements for your chosen course, we may still be able to accept your application, as we can be more flexible on some courses.
You'll be asked to fill in a short application form. If we make you an offer, you should then add The University of Southampton as your Clearing choice in your UCAS Hub.
Once you have an offer you can apply for a place in our student accommodation. Students applying through Clearing are guaranteed a place in halls if you submit your accommodation application by 17 August 2026, 5pm UK time.
Places are assigned on a first come, first served basis. Terms and conditions apply.
If you're waiting for your results
UCAS will contact you with a final decision about your results and your application status will be updated in your UCAS Hub.
We'll also email you to confirm the decision and explain what you need to do next.
Clearing Hotline
You can contact our admissions team if you have any queries or need help with your application by emailing them through admissions@southampton.ac.uk or phoning through +44 (0)23 8059 4732.
We'll be opening our Clearing hotline around A level results day on 13 August 2026. The lines will be open on:
- Thursday 13 August from 8am to 9pm
- Friday 14 August from 8am to 6pm
We'll publish more details, including a telephone number on this page shortly before then.
You can find information on the details you'll need to provide when making an application through our Clearing hotline on our 'Your Clearing questions answered' page.
