About
Dr Varatharaj is a clinical academic neurologist. He studies brain inflammation in conditions such as multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, and dementia. He uses magnetic resonance imaging techniques to study the blood-brain barrier in health and disease.
His work has been funded by the MRC, NIHR, Alzheimer's Society, Ferblanc, RFU Injured Players Fund, and Bournemouth University.

I am the Clinical Lead for Nervous System teaching in BM5 Year 2. Students learn the principles of nervous system structure and function, providing a thorough basis for understanding the diagnosis and treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders.
