Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

• Collect data using appropriate and justified methods with respect to focus of the inquiry.
• Recognise and respond to relevant, moral, and practical issues in the conduct of the inquiry.
• Interpret results, synthesizing ideas to generate new understandings and evaluate their clinical relevance.
• Critically evaluate the process of inquiry with respect to trustworthiness of the results by identifying strengths and limitations of the process.
• Analyse and present data using appropriate and justified methods.

This module will build on the knowledge and skills gained as a result of undertaking the Research Methods module across five broad themes. Study skills development: In this first theme, students will have the opportunity to reflect on and build their study skills in preparedness to engage in a year long student led project. This will include opportunities to further develop their academic and writing skills at level 6, including further developing skills of analysis, interpretation, reasoning and evaluation to support your projects development and completion. Project planning, conduct and management: In this theme, you will provided with support to develop your understanding of research project planning, conduct, and management. You will be supported to plan your project including important practical issues that arise in the conduct of projects, such as how to determine if ethical approval processes are needed and the approval processes. This theme will also include opportunities to build on some of the aspects of project planning covered in the previous year, including planning the logistics of the project. It will also provide an overview of important considerations for your project such as how data is collected, stored, and where necessary transferred. Qualitative and quantitative analysis and synthesis: In this theme, you will build on your year 2 knowledge around qualitative and quantitative analysis and data synthesis and will have the opportunity to apply this to your own projects. This will also involve opportunities to critically appraise various literature in a systematic, transparent and fair way, recognizing the limitations of studies, evidence gaps, and relevance to clinical practice. Research dissemination: In this final theme, you will be provided with a range of practical tools and have the opportunity to use these to disseminate your findings to all relevant stakeholders in an engaging, fair, and transparent ways.
