Dr Golding leads the Geography PGCE course at Southampton.
He welcomes enquiries from individuals wishing to undertake doctoral research in the fields of geography education, education for environmental sustainability, education in Vietnam and those interested in the use of innovative research methods in education.
Dr Cyrus Golding is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the School of Education at the University of Southampton and Programme Lead for the Geography PGCE.
His work is interdisciplinary, spanning geography, education and philosophy.
Core research areas include education for sustainability, teacher-researcher practice, and international education, particularly in Vietnam.
Along with Professor Lizzie Rushton (University of Stirling), he co-founded Routes - the first UK and international journal for peer-reviewed student geography scholarship. Dr Golding holds a BA (first class), MSc and DPhil from the University of Oxford, and a PGCE from the University of Cambridge. In recognition of his contribution to education, he was awarded the 2024 Ordnance Survey Award by the Royal Geographical Society.
