Topics in Macroeconomics
The module will introduce students to the monetary economics literature and in particular to New Keynesian framework which is at the heart of the medium-scale models used by many central banks. The core of the module will focus on the relationship between the inflation dynamics, the business cycle and the design of monetary policy. -
ECON3010 2027-28
Topics in Macroeconomics
The main objective of this module is to expose students to the state-of-the-art discussion in a range of macroeconomic topics: growth, unemployment, taxation, and monetary policy. The approach is to study a simplified version of some widely used models in the current macroeconomic literature. Emphasis will be put on understanding model assumptions in order to identify the key factors shaping the response of these models to key policy questions. -

Topics in Macroeconomics
Modern macroeconomic research in academia, central banks, government institutions and international organisations relies heavily on numerical methods to solve, simulate and analyse dynamic economic models and to conduct quantitative policy analysis. This module introduces students to the computational techniques used in contemporary macroeconomics, with particular emphasis on dynamic stochastic general equilibrium models. Students will learn how to solve, simulate and analyse a range of macroeconomic models, including Real Business Cycle and New Keynesian models, and how to use these frameworks to evaluate the effects of economic shocks and alternative policy interventions. The module combines economic theory with state-of-the-art numerical methods, equipping students with the tools used in modern macroeconomic research and policy institutions. -
