Current research
Renatas’ research interests cover a broad spectrum of topics under the umbrella of sustainable finance, with particular emphasis on asset pricing, ESG/non-financial performance, and biodiversity-related financial risks, and the role of policy signals in shaping financial markets. He examines how sustainability considerations - such as climate-related risks, nature degradation, and environmental regulation - are reflected in asset prices, portfolio allocation, and corporate behaviour, including the dynamics between green and brown investments. His work also contributes to the literature on corporate governance, particularly the role of board diversity in shaping ESG performance and risk outcomes. Recent research explores the development of ESG scoring methodologies, the interaction between supply chain networks and sustainability performance, and financial market responses to policy-related announcements.
Renatas welcomes applications to undertake PhD research study broadly related to, but not restricted to, any of the above areas. Excellent candidates are encouraged to email Renatas informally discuss their research plans before they apply for our PhD Programme.
Renatas’ doctoral students have embarked on successful careers at Durham University, University of Portsmouth, University of Sussex, Yorkshire Building Society, Tianjin University of Commerce, China, as well as Africa Centre for Energy Policy, Ghana, among others.
