About

Dr. Eleanor Osborne is a Research Fellow in the Integrated Photonics Devices group, Optoelectronic Research Centre, University of Southampton. Her research focusses on the development of novel heterostructured photoanodes for efficient photoelectrochemical water splitting to produce green hydrogen. In addition, she works on developing low-cost disposable ATR platforms for signal enhanced mid-infrared and Raman spectroscopies for biomedical diagnostics.

Eleanor studied for a degree in MSci Natural Sciences at the University of Exeter 2017-2021. She then moved to the Optoelectronics Research Centre in 2021 for a PhD, for which she was finalist for the Team '96 prize recognising outstanding PhD performance at the ORC. In addition to her research, Eleanor is active in organisation of outreach and public engagement events on photonics, and sits on the department's Early Career Researcher Forum committee.
