Hannah Keens Caballero is a PhD student in Geography in the School of Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Southampton. Originally from Mexico, Hannah completed her undergraduate degree in Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics, during which she worked as a veterinary assistant in a small-animal practice.
She later undertook her Servicio Social (professional practice) at the Center for Teaching, Research and Extension in Sheep Production (CEIEPO), where she worked as both a medical and academic assistant, and contributed to the centre’s extension and outreach programmes.
Most recently, Hannah completed an MSc in Animal Behaviour and Animal Welfare at the University of Edinburgh. Her master's research focused on the lived experience of hunger in suckler cows, exploring animal welfare from both behavioural and experiential perspectives.
Currently, her doctoral research integrates her background in animal science with environmental and social dimensions of geography, reflecting her broader interest in the intersection of animal welfare, agricultural systems, and human–animal relationships.
