About
Professor Ibrahim Sari is based at the University of Southampton, within the School of Electronics and Computer Science, where he provides strategic direction to Semiconductor Systems and Integration. He works at the interface of academia and industry, translating the University's fundamental research in electronic systems and semiconductors into industrial applications and national capabilities, with a particular focus on fabrication platforms, advanced packaging and heterogeneous integration.
He leads a strategic portfolio of national programmes, multi-partner collaborations and high-value commercial contracts. He is the University of Southampton's Principal Investigator for CHIMES, the national Innovation and Knowledge Centre for Heterogeneous Integration of MicroElectronic and Semiconductor Systems, where he leads the University's industry co-creation projects. He also leads a sustained programme of Innovate UK and EPSRC projects developing sovereign UK capability in advanced packaging, building consortia with leading national and international industrial partners.
Alongside these programmes, Professor Sari develops major industrial partnerships with world-leading semiconductor organisations, translating University expertise into high-value commercial collaborations. He contributes to national semiconductor strategy through advisory roles with national bodies and learned societies, and has represented the University on UK government delegations.
Professor Sari brings over twenty years of combined academic and industrial experience in semiconductor process development and integration. Before returning to Southampton he held a senior industrial leadership role, where he led silicon photonics process development and technology transfer to high-volume manufacturing. He holds a PhD in Semiconductor Process Development and Integration from Middle East Technical University, Turkey.
